PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE POLICY
Italian Journal of Educational Technology is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that observes the code of publication ethics and ‘Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors’ proposed by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). Accordingly, all possible steps are taken to guard against any fraud that may occur during the publication of a paper in IJET. ARCHIVING
FUP, the journal publisher, consistently engages in dissemination, hosting, and archiving activities for its books and journals published on various platforms, to ensure broader distribution and long-term preservation. FUP is committed to guaranteeing the permanent availability and preservation of academic research and ensuring accessibility by converting and updating digital file formats to meet new technological standards. To this end, FUP works in collaboration with external organizations while also maintaining our internal digital archive.
FUP is a publishing house that adheres to CLOCKSS: through its collaboration with Casalini Libri, FUP uses CLOCKSS to create a distributed archiving system available to participating publishers and libraries, allowing them to establish permanent archives of books and journal articles for preservation and recovery purposes. CLOCKSS is a non-profit organization, a dark archive (an archive not directly accessible to the public) that preserves all of FUP’s publications. In the event that content becomes unavailable from participating publishers or libraries, the archived content on CLOCKSS is activated and made available via Open Access. CLOCKSS assigns Creative Commons licenses to all activated digital content, ensuring permanent open access to publications that no longer have a publisher, benefiting the entire global scientific community. In this way, the recovered content is once again permanently available to anyone with internet access.
FUP has also subscribed to the national legal deposit and long-term digital preservation service and is currently testing this new service.
BUSINESS MODEL
Revenue sources
The journal is entirely economically supported by its owner, which is the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy, i.e. the largest and most prestigious public research institution in Italy, with more than 8.000 employees. Since 1993, when the journal was established, the article processing charges have been fully covered by CNR with public research funding. Given that public research in Europe is embracing and promoting an Open Science model, the journal is published according to a Diamond Open Access model.
Printed copies of the journal can be bought by contacting the publisher at ordini[at]fup.unifi.it
Advertising
The journal business model does not rely on any form of advertisement.
Direct marketing
The journal editorial staff advertises each new issue and call for papers by sending an email to the users registered in the submission system. The editors and journal Boards members are invited to do the same within their networks. The journal calls for papers and issue releases are also published on the journal page on facebook. In addition, the journal relies on its publisher (FUP) and its channels to reach potential readers, authors and reviewers. Read more on FUP promotion, sales and distribution channels.
